2019 LEED O+M PLATINUM CERTIFICATION

Moda Center is the first existing arena to receive LEED O+M (v4.1) Platinum Certification, a major milestone in the greening of sports. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building and community and home project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement.

The Platinum certification, awarded to Moda Center by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), identifies and rewards best practices for a building’s energy, water, waste, transportation and human experience.

  • We conscientiously source, prepare, serve, and dispose of our food, with 55% of all combined food and beverage sourced within 100 mile radius.
  • We recover 5,000-8,000+ lbs of food annually through our partnership with Urban Gleaners, which is then donated to hungry kids and families in need throughout Portland.
  • We want to ensure you have an authentic Portland food experience within Moda Center, which is why our concession stands are not only restaurants and breweries you’ll find throughout Portland, but they also look like their corresponding Brick and Mortar locations while being cooked by their employed chefs.

HOW FANS CAN LIVE GREENER

We know that prioritizing greener game day food can result in reduced waste and water use, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, more nutritious options for fans, more optimal agricultural land use, local economic support, and more. Help us reach our goals at Moda Center and at home:
